Delete your account

You can delete your Tangent account and the data associated with it at any time. There are two ways to do it, below. We only ever delete an account for the person who controls its email address, so your account can't be deleted by someone who simply knows your email.

Delete in the app (the quickest way)

If you're signed in on a device, you can delete your account directly in the app:

This deletes everything we hold for your account: your account record and email, your synced tangents and visits, and the analytics events tied to your account.

No longer have the app?

Email support@exploretangent.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll send a confirmation to that same address, and delete the account once you confirm.

We confirm to your account's email address before deleting anything. This means a request only succeeds if it comes from the person who controls that inbox, so nobody can delete your account just by knowing your email.

What gets removed

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:

The only thing we keep is anonymous, non-identifying usage data that was never linked to your account (for example, aggregate counts of how features are used). It contains nothing that identifies you.

How long it takes

Deleting in the app is immediate. An emailed request is completed within 30 days of confirmation, and usually much sooner.

Using Tangent without an account

You can use Tangent without ever signing in. If you never sign in, we never have your email, and your tangents stay on your device. Removing the app from your device removes that on-device data.
